Eligibility Criteria for Bonn SDG Fellowships 2025:
- The German fellowship is preferably for scholars from Latin America, Africa, and South/East Asia interested in research on SDGs.
- To be eligible for the funding, postdoctoral researchers of foreign nationality are encouraged to collaborate on joint research projects with professors from the University of Bonn.
- Similarly, these researchers should have an affiliation with a university or research institution in specified regions beyond the fellowship duration, either in research or  teaching capacities.
- All fellows must have expertise in a research area relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) theme of the Bonn SDG Fellowships.
- The program does not facilitate initial contact between interested fellows and faculty members at the University of Bonn.

Selection Criteria:
The selection criteria evaluate the project proposal depending on two categories:
- Academic Quality and Mutual Benefit (50%)Â
- Emphasis on addressing topics that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
- Assessment of the research project’s quality during the fellowship period in  Bonn.
- Evaluation of the fellow’s contribution to academic life in Bonn, such as through public lectures or seminars.
- Potential for Future Cooperation and Strategic Relevance (50%)
- Consideration of the connection between the proposed research and Bonn’s research profile.
- Examination of plans for establishing long-term research relationships between the fellow and the host institute in Bonn.
